Give Thanks
Today I was in a grocery store and turned into an aisle to find a lady in a motorized cart having the time of her life. She was sitting in the crowded aisle laughing and joking that she was scared to move, for fear of running over somebody. Her upbeat attitude was amazing! She was, obviously, just thankful to be alive and able to go shopping, though unable to walk on her own! I found her attitude really refreshing, since she seemed to be the happiest out of all those in that crowded aisle.
We always have something to be thankful for, especially those saved and Heaven bound! The attitude of gratitude should especially be seen in the lives of God’s people for we are undeserving of the very least of God’s mercy. Jacob once expressed his sense of unworthiness. “I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.” – Genesis 32:10
Thanksgiving is more of an attitude than a once in a year Holiday. We are to be thankful always and for everything. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” – Ephesians 5:20; “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – I Thessalonians 5:18
I must say that it is quite convicting when a person unable to walk seems more thankful than the rest of us who do not need the help of a motorized cart to get around! Today that unknown stranger reminded me that I really do not have anything to complain about and if I do, I am the biggest “Thanksgiving Turkey”!
