“We Cry”
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15
We cry for different reasons. Sometimes we cry because we hurt. Sometimes we cry because we are happy. Sometimes we cry for help. Sometimes tears are bitter and other times they are sweet. Perhaps no stage of human life reflects a purer cause for tears than that of an infant child. Crying is the only language that the infant can use and the mother is able to interpret the cry! The mother knows if the cry is for nurture or because of discomfort. The mother knows if their baby cries for help or if their baby cries to be held!
God’s adopted child also cries. We cry for essentially the same reasons in the spiritual realm. We cry often for the Father’s help as we face our human weaknesses and the inability to deal with life’s problems and challenges. “Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.” – Psalm 40:13 Sometimes we, as adopted children, cry to the Father to be held. He holds us with His comforting promises in the Scriptures. “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” – I Thessalonians 4:18 The Holy Spirit makes His Word precious and His adopted child knows that they are blessed in the Father’s arms and near the Father’s heart. We cry, “Father, Father” and He responds as a Father to a child and the child is granted all the rights pertaining to an adopted child. – Chuck Peters 9/3/2023
